The CLEVELAND C46153 is a single-end, 3-flute countersink designed for deburring and chamfering operations in carbon steel and cast iron workpieces. The tool features a 1/4-inch head diameter, a 100-degree included angle (50-degree centerline angle), and a right-hand cutting direction. The straight-cylindrical 3/16-inch shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collets. An oxide finish helps reduce friction and extends cutting life in ferrous materials. This countersink does not include a pilot and is intended for use as a head-only countersink, making it suitable for machinists, tool-and-die shops, and metal fabricators who need consistent chamfer geometry on drilled holes.
The C46153 is applied in operations that require countersinking fastener seats, deburring hole edges, or chamfering entry points on carbon steel and cast iron components. Its 3-flute geometry provides a smoother cut and better chatter resistance compared to single-flute designs, making it appropriate for both manual drill press work and CNC setups where repeatable chamfer depth is required. It is a common tool in production machining, maintenance shops, and fabrication environments.
Designed for countersinking and chamfering operations in carbon steel and cast iron. Fits drill presses, hand drills, and CNC spindles accepting a 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this countersink should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped firmly to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting speed for the workpiece material and apply cutting fluid when working with harder ferrous alloys to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the tool if chipping or dullness is observed.
