The CLEVELAND C46126 is a single-flute high speed steel countersink designed for creating precise conical seat holes in metal workpieces. With a 3/4-inch head diameter and a 90-degree included angle, it generates a clean, accurate chamfer in a single pass. The 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and milling machine collets. An oxide coating provides a degree of lubricity and corrosion resistance during cutting operations. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this tool.
The C46126 is suited for countersinking fastener seats in carbon steel and cast iron workpieces in both production and maintenance environments. Typical applications include preparing holes to accept flat-head machine screws, deburring drilled holes, and chamfering hole entries before tapping. The single-flute geometry reduces chatter in hand-held drill and drill-press operations where rigid fixturing may not be available.
Designed for countersinking operations in carbon steel and cast iron. Compatible with standard drill presses, milling machines, and hand drills equipped with a 1/2-inch or larger chuck.
Secure the workpiece firmly before operation to prevent rotation and ensure a concentric seat. Start at a low spindle speed and increase gradually while applying light, consistent feed pressure to avoid work-hardening the material. Use cutting fluid when working with steel to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the tool if chipping or dulling is observed.
