The CLEVELAND C46120 is a single-flute high speed steel countersink designed for creating conical seats in metal workpieces prior to fastener installation. With a 5/8 inch head diameter and an 82-degree included angle, it produces accurately angled recesses that match flat-head screw profiles common in carbon steel and cast iron applications. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter, providing positive chuck engagement on standard drill presses, CNC machines, and hand drills. An oxide coating improves surface lubricity and wear resistance during cutting. This tool is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance mechanics working in metal fabrication environments.
The C46120 is suited for countersinking operations in carbon steel and cast iron stock. Its single-flute geometry reduces chatter and produces a clean, consistent finish in these materials. Typical applications include preparing bolt and screw holes in structural components, machinery frames, and plate assemblies where a flush fastener seating is required. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard drill press and lathe rotation. This tool is well-matched to production shops and maintenance facilities that require repeatable countersink geometry on a variety of workpiece thicknesses.
Rated for use in carbon steel and cast iron material applications. Designed for use with standard drill press chucks, lathe tailstocks, and hand drill chucks accepting 3/8 inch straight shank tooling.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance mechanic should operate this tool using appropriate workholding and eye protection per shop safety standards. Secure the workpiece firmly before beginning the countersinking operation and ensure the drill press or machine spindle is stopped before changing or adjusting the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid when working with ferrous metals to extend tool life. Do not exceed the recommended speed range for high speed steel tooling in the material being cut.
