The CLEVELAND C43296 is a square end mill designed for material removal and contouring operations on milling machines and machining centers. Built from M42 powdered metal, it delivers hardness and edge retention suitable for demanding cutting applications. The tool measures 1 inch in diameter with a 4-inch length of cut, a 1-inch shank diameter, and a 6-1/2-inch overall length. Four spiral flutes at a 37-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as peripheral milling. This end mill is uncoated and runs in right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration.
The C43296 is suited for general-purpose milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a standard-length, large-diameter end mill is required. It is commonly used in job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance shops for slotting, profiling, and facing operations. The PM-4 series designation indicates a regular-length powdered metal tool appropriate for setups where extended reach is not needed. Machinists and CNC operators working with manual knee mills or CNC vertical machining centers will find this tool appropriate for moderate to heavy stock removal passes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for milling setups requiring a 1-inch diameter, 4-flute square end mill with a 1-inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. The 1-inch straight shank must be secured in a properly sized end mill holder, collet chuck, or milling machine spindle rated for the shank diameter before use. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the tool manufacturer recommendations and workpiece material before cutting. Inspect the tool for chips or damage prior to each use and never exceed the rated depth of cut for the tool diameter.
