The CLEVELAND C42607 is a cobalt square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers superior heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter features a 0.25-inch mill diameter, a 0.5-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with spiral fluting. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunging into a workpiece. This tool is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on manual mills, CNC mills, and machining centers where consistent finish and tool life in hard materials are priorities.
The C42607 is suited for milling high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel. Its 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical or Weldon flat shank provides secure holding in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style set-screw holders. The regular-length geometry and 2-flute design promote chip evacuation in slotting and side-milling operations. It is a strong choice for shops running aerospace, medical, or general precision-machining work where stainless and high-temp alloys are common workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard 3/8-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon flat holders on manual and CNC milling machines. Rated for primary workpiece materials including high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel per material codes M, P, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tool-change procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and at rest before inserting or removing the end mill. Confirm the shank is clean and fully seated to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the holder manufacturer before tightening set screws or collet nut. Do not exceed the tool's rated length-of-cut range when programming axial depth of cut.
