The CLEVELAND C42069 is a double-end, two-flute square end mill manufactured from high speed steel (HSS). Designed for milling flat-bottomed slots, shoulders, and peripheral profiles, it carries a 7/16-inch cutting diameter with a 13/16-inch length of cut and a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. At 4-1/8 inches overall length and a regular-length classification, this tool fits standard milling chucks and collets without extended-reach adapters. It is uncoated, centercutting, right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction, and belongs to the Cleveland HD-2 series, suited for general-purpose machining operations.
This end mill is rated for use on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpieces. The double-end configuration provides a second cutting end, extending tool life and reducing per-cut tooling cost on production runs or repair work. Typical applications include slot milling, side milling, and step machining on knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual Bridgeport-style machines. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece, making it practical for pocketing and ramping operations without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron (ISO K), non-ferrous metals (ISO N), and steel (ISO P). The 1/2-inch shank is compatible with standard 1/2-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style tool holders used on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's setup guidelines. Secure the shank fully into the tool holder to the recommended insertion depth, engaging the Weldon flat with the set screw for positive retention. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and cutting diameter before engaging the cut. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling.
