The CLEVELAND C41732 is a single-end, two-flute square end mill machined from high speed steel, designed for material removal and profiling operations on milling machines and machining centers. It carries a 1-inch cutting diameter with a 3-inch length of cut and an overall length of 6.5 inches, placing it in the long-series category for extended-reach applications. The uncoated, bright finish suits operators who prefer to apply their own cutting fluid or coating regimen. A 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation, and the centercutting design allows the tool to plunge directly into the workpiece. Installation and operation are handled by machinists in job shop, production, and maintenance environments.
This end mill is engineered for use on cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and steel workpieces, covering the broadest common range of shop materials. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement in standard end mill holders and side-lock toolholders, reducing pullout risk during heavier cuts. Its long length of cut, beginning at 2 inches and running to 3 inches, makes it well suited for deep-pocket milling, slotting, and side-wall finishing where standard-length tools cannot reach. It is a practical choice in toolrooms, maintenance shops, and general machining cells running manual or CNC knee mills and vertical machining centers.
Designed for use in standard 1-inch end mill holders and side-lock toolholders on manual knee mills, CNC vertical machining centers, and horizontal milling machines. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and steel as designated by material codes K, N, and P.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered off before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the Weldon flat securely against the toolholder set screw and torque the set screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specification to prevent axial pullout. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, and apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life.
