The CLEVELAND C41618 is a two-flute, single-end square end mill ground from high speed steel (HSS) and designed for general-purpose milling operations in machine shop and production environments. With a 0.5-inch mill diameter and a 1-inch length of cut, it handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in a compact regular-length geometry. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip flow and reduces cutting forces, making it well suited for both ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration follow standard convention. Centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. This tool is used by machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC setup technicians in job shops and production facilities.
The C41618 is intended for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its uncoated HSS construction makes it a cost-effective choice for lower-speed manual mills and CNC machining centers where coated carbide is not required. The 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accepts standard ER collets and Weldon-style end mill holders. Regular length geometry fits most standard mill setups without clearance concerns. The HG-2 series designation identifies it as part of Cleveland's catalog of general-purpose HSS end mills.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Confirm spindle direction is right-hand before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and replace the tool if edge condition is compromised.
