The CLEVELAND C41604 is a 2-flute, high speed steel square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. With a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter and a 7/16 inch length of cut, this tool removes material efficiently while maintaining dimensional accuracy. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat measures 3/8 inch in diameter, providing secure tool holding in standard end mill holders and collets. At 2-3/8 inches overall length, it fits standard milling setups without extended-reach complications. The 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote smooth chip evacuation. This is a centercutting end mill, meaning it can be used for plunge cutting as well as peripheral and slot milling operations.
The C41604 is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and production environments where versatility across common workpiece materials is required. It is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, making it appropriate for a broad range of general machining tasks. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the industry-standard orientation for conventional vertical and horizontal milling machine setups. The regular length classification makes this end mill a practical choice for standard-depth milling passes where rigidity and chatter resistance are priorities over extended reach.
Designed for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpiece materials. Compatible with standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style set-screw tool holders used on conventional and CNC milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a properly sized end mill holder or collet, tightening set screws against the flat to prevent axial pullout under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when operating milling equipment.
