The CLEVELAND C41553 is a 2-flute, single-end square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance over uncoated HSS tooling. The mill measures 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) in diameter with a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) length of cut and a 2.5 inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. This tooling is installed and changed out by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
The C41553 belongs to the Cleveland HG-2 series and is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its regular length geometry and straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat make it compatible with standard end mill holders and set-screw collet systems. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard configurations for conventional and climb milling passes on vertical mills and CNC machining centers.

End mills should be installed by qualified machinists following the machine tool manufacturer torque and runout specifications for the holder being used. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Confirm shank seating depth and Weldon flat alignment before tightening set screws. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against material-specific cutting data before engaging the cut.
