The CLEVELAND C41521 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it cuts with improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 3/16 inch cutting diameter and 4-flute spiral geometry make it well-suited for finishing passes and light slotting in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 30-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting and flute direction, it provides efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is used in shops performing precision work on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The 1/2 inch length of cut suits shallow pocket milling, profiling, and contouring operations where a small-diameter tool is required. The 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and Weldon-style set-screw tool holders. Its regular length classification keeps it rigid under cutting loads, reducing chatter in close-tolerance work. It belongs to the CLEVELAND HG-4C series, which covers general-purpose TiN-coated HSS end mills.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders and Weldon-style tool holders accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter. Intended for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpieces per the manufacturer-specified primary workpiece material designations K, N, and P.
Install and remove end mills with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder and tighten the set screw against the Weldon flat to the holder manufacturer's specification before running the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for chips or wear before each use, as a damaged edge increases cutting forces and reduces part quality. Machining operations should follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines.
