The CLEVELAND C41338 is a 4-flute, high speed steel square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking applications. With a 5/8-inch (0.625-inch decimal) mill diameter and a 2-1/2-inch length of cut, it delivers reliable material removal in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The 5/8-inch straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat provides secure toolholder engagement. A 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge and interpolation operations without a pre-drilled hole. It belongs to the CLEVELAND HG-4C series and ships uncoated and ready to run.
This end mill is suited for manual mills and CNC machining centers in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. Its regular-length geometry fits standard toolholders and makes it appropriate for general-purpose profiling, slotting, and pocket milling in cast iron, steel, and non-ferrous materials. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match the majority of standard spindle configurations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in ferrous and non-ferrous stock will find the HG-4C series geometry effective across a range of common milling tasks.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock end mill for general milling applications in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel using machines equipped with 5/8-inch straight shank or Weldon flat toolholders.
Install and tighten in an appropriate end mill holder or collet chuck before powering the spindle. Ensure the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw in the holder for secure clamping. Follow machine tool manufacturer torque and runout specifications for the toolholder. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace when edge condition degrades to avoid workpiece damage.
