The CLEVELAND C40351 is a square end mill engineered for metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from powdered metal and coated with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it delivers improved wear resistance and tool life compared to standard high-speed steel tooling. The three-flute, spiral configuration runs with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation, with a 42-degree helix angle for efficient chip evacuation. At 0.75 inches in diameter with a 3-inch length of cut and a 5.25-inch overall length, this is a regular-length end mill suited to general-purpose and non-ferrous metal milling operations. It is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
The C40351 is designed for milling non-ferrous metals as its primary workpiece material, making it appropriate for aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat seats securely in standard end mill holders and collet chucks. It is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills across job shops, toolrooms, and production environments where consistent cutting performance in non-ferrous materials is required.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement end mill for applications requiring a 0.75-inch diameter, three-flute, regular-length tool in any end mill holder or collet system that accepts a 0.75-inch straight-cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat. Part of the Cleveland Series PM-539R powdered metal end mill line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the holder and torque according to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, and verify that cutting parameters are appropriate for the specific workpiece material and machine rigidity.
