The CLEVELAND C40346 is a 3-flute square end mill in the PM-539R series, manufactured from powdered metal with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) finish. It features a 0.75-inch milling diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 3.75-inch overall length. The spiral flute geometry and 42-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Designed for right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation, this centercutting tool can plunge directly into a workpiece, making it versatile for slotting, profiling, and face milling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with non-ferrous metals will find this end mill a reliable production choice.
The C40346 is primarily suited for machining non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, copper, brass, and similar materials. Its straight cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat allows secure seating in standard end mill holders and Weldon-style collet chucks. The regular length designation and 0.75-inch shank diameter make this a practical fit for vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC machining cells handling light-to-medium material removal on non-ferrous workpieces.
Designed for use in standard 0.75-inch end mill holders, Weldon-style holders, and collet chucks on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. Primary workpiece material compatibility is non-ferrous metals (material code N per PM-539R series specifications).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and tighten set screws against the Weldon flat to manufacturer torque guidelines for the holder in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, and confirm feed rate and spindle speed are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
