The CLEVELAND C40047 is a corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series PM-538R standards, it features a 1 inch cutting diameter, 4 inch length of cut, and a 0.12 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the tool tip and extends tool life in high-load applications. The TiCN coating provides enhanced surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide, making this mill well suited for production environments where tool longevity matters. With 3 flutes and a 42-degree helix angle, it balances chip evacuation and finish quality. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. This tool is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining cells.
The C40047 is applicable to milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where a corner radius profile is required to reduce part stress risers or meet drawing callouts. The 4 inch length of cut supports deep-pocket and shoulder milling setups. The 1 inch shank diameter is sized for standard CAT, BT, HSK, or collet-style toolholders commonly found in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The coarse pitch and right-hand cutting and flute direction make this a standard configuration for conventional and climb milling strategies.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for use in standard 1 inch bore milling toolholders on vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers. No specific machine model compatibility was provided by the manufacturer for this part.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change state before mounting or removing the end mill. The 1 inch shank should be seated fully and evenly in the toolholder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates TiCN coating wear and reduces corner radius accuracy.
