The CLEVELAND C39677 is a 3-flute square end mill designed for material removal and profiling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metalworking applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) finish, it delivers improved wear resistance and tool life compared to uncoated HSS. The cutter measures 0.375 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. This is a center-cutting tool, meaning it can be used for both plunge and peripheral milling. Machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers working in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
The C39677 is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in light-to-moderate stock removal and finishing passes. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and side-lock toolholders. The regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and pocket milling where extended reach is not required. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Compatible with cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpiece materials. Fits standard 0.375-inch end mill holders and Weldon-style side-lock holders. Part of the Cleveland HG-3 series of regular-length square end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of burrs before seating the end mill. Torque the set screw against the Weldon flat per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut being taken.
