The CLEVELAND C39651 is a 3-flute, single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose material removal in milling operations across machine shops and manufacturing environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS), it carries a 0.5-inch cutting diameter with a 1.25-inch length of cut and an overall length of 3.25 inches. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action on a range of workpiece materials. This uncoated, spiral-flute tool is center-cutting, allowing it to plunge directly into a workpiece. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die technicians using standard vertical or horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
The C39651 is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both production and job-shop settings. Its straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw tool holders. The regular-length geometry makes it appropriate for shoulder milling, slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling applications where extended reach is not required. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration match the standard spindle rotation of conventional milling equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct addition for standard 0.5-inch bore end mill holders used in vertical mills, knee mills, and machining centers. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as designated by material codes K, N, and P per the HG-3 series specification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully de-energized and locked out before mounting or removing the end mill from its holder. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge-line depth and tighten the Weldon flat set screw to prevent axial pullout during cuts. Verify runout with a test indicator before initiating a cutting pass, particularly on finish operations.
