The CLEVELAND C39642 is a 3-flute, square-end, single-end mill designed for general-purpose material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS), it features a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. The uncoated HSS construction suits a wide range of shop environments where regrinding and reconditioning are standard practice. With a 1/4 inch cutting diameter and 5/8 inch length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in both manual and CNC setups. It is installed and operated by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators.
The C39642 is sized for light to medium-duty milling work on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard side-lock and collet toolholders. The 2-7/16 inch overall length keeps the tool in the regular-length category, minimizing deflection in standard reach applications. This end mill is well suited to job shops, production environments, and toolroom work where versatility across common workpiece materials is required.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Compatible with standard 3/8 inch side-lock and collet toolholders. Part of the Cleveland HG-3 series of regular-length square end mills.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the toolholder to the manufacturer torque specification for the holder type used. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, and confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut being taken.
