The CLEVELAND C39606 is a double-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tool delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS. The cutting diameter is 0.4375 inches, the length of cut is 1 inch, and the overall length is 4.125 inches. Three spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. The centercutting geometry allows both plunge and peripheral milling. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and toolroom technicians on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
The C39606 is suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 0.5-inch shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders commonly found in job shops and production environments. The HD-3 series designation indicates a heavy-duty geometry intended for applications requiring a robust tool with a regular length profile. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on vertical and horizontal machining setups.
Designed as a standard 0.5-inch shank end mill compatible with ER collet systems, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders used on manual knee mills and CNC vertical machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify that the tool is clamped to the minimum recommended engagement depth for the holder type in use. Inspect the cutting edges for damage before each use and replace the tool if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
