The CLEVELAND C39598 is a double-end square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining. It features a 0.1875-inch (3/16 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.5-inch length of cut, and is manufactured from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) finish. The TiN coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in demanding cutting applications. With three flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, this end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. It is center-cutting capable, allowing direct plunge entry into workpieces. The 0.375-inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accepts standard end mill holders and collet chucks.
This end mill is suited for use in manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills operating on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpieces. Its double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending the service life of each tool. The regular-length configuration and 3.25-inch overall length make it appropriate for general-purpose face milling, slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling tasks in job shop and production environments. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in both prototype and production settings will find it a straightforward fit for common roughing and finishing passes.
The C39598 is rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. It is part of the Cleveland HD-3 series and accepts standard 3/8-inch end mill holders and collets.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Ensure the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw in the tool holder before tightening to prevent axial pull-out under load. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material being cut and tool manufacturer recommendations before beginning a cut.
