The CLEVELAND C39142 is a double-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tool delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS. The 0.125 inch diameter cutting head features a 2-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle, making it well suited for finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy matter. With a 0.375 inch length of cut and a 3.0625 inch overall length, it fits standard end mill holders using a 0.375 inch shank. Machinists and toolroom professionals install and use this tool in CNC and manual milling applications.
The C39142 is sized for finishing work in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between changes. The regular-length profile and 0.375 inch shank diameter suit it for general-purpose milling setups where reach and rigidity are balanced. This tool is a fit for shops running tight-tolerance contour work, die work, or detail milling where a small-diameter ball nose profile is required.
Designed as a standard-shank end mill for use in any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 0.375 inch end mill holder or collet. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, powered-down state and all axes locked. Confirm that the holder or collet is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Torque the set screw or collet nut according to the holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping before use and rotate to the second end only when the first end shows measurable wear.
