The CLEVELAND C39084 is a 2-flute, square-end, single-end mill ground from high speed steel (HSS) and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. It measures 0.375 inches in diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and a 3.25-inch overall length. The shank diameter matches the cutter diameter at 0.375 inches, making it straightforward to chuck in a standard end mill holder or collet. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during cutting. This is a long-series tool in the HG-2 line, suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals who need additional reach without sacrificing rigidity.
The C39084 is designed for milling operations in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The centercutting geometry allows it to be used for plunge cutting as well as peripheral and slot milling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC machining center setups and manual knee mills. The straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates side-lock holders commonly found in production and job-shop environments. It is appropriate for general-purpose profiling, slotting, and step milling applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-purpose cutting tool for use in standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and side-lock Weldon-flat holders on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle at a full stop and the machine control in an estop or locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the holder bore and shank are clean and free of chips before seating the tool. Torque the set screw or collet nut according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate tool wear and reduce surface finish quality.
