The CLEVELAND C39082 is a 2-flute, high speed steel square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in machining centers and manual mills. It features a 5/16-inch cutting diameter, a 1-3/8-inch length of cut, and a 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat for secure tool holding. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in production environments. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the centercutting design allows plunge entry into the workpiece. At 3-1/8 inches overall length, this is a long-series end mill suited for applications requiring additional reach.
This end mill is rated for cutting cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, making it a versatile choice for job shops and production machining operations. The Series HG-2 long-length configuration provides clearance in deep-pocket milling, slot cutting, and profiling operations where a standard-length end mill would contact the workpiece wall. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for any milling machine or machining center accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank end mill. Suitable for cutting cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel per Series HG-2 application ratings.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using an appropriate collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style set-screw holder sized for a 3/8-inch shank. Confirm spindle is fully stopped and machine is in a safe lockout state before inserting or removing tooling. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator after clamping to minimize premature wear and maintain dimensional accuracy. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for maximum RPM and feed rate based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
