The CLEVELAND C39075 is a 2-flute, high speed steel square end mill designed for metal removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. It features an 11/16-inch cutting diameter, a 2.25-inch length of cut, and a 3/4-inch straight cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat for secure tool holding. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. It belongs to the HG-2 long series and arrives uncoated, ready for use with appropriate cutting fluids or dry depending on the application.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both production and maintenance environments. The long length of cut — 2.25 inches — makes it appropriate for deeper pocketing, slotting, and side milling passes where a standard-length tool would not reach. The 4.5-inch overall length provides adequate clearance in setups requiring extended reach without sacrificing rigidity in typical machining conditions. Designed for use in standard 3/4-inch straight-shank tool holders including side-lock Weldon-style holders. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop safety procedures. Ensure the holder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the tool. Tighten the Weldon flat set screw to the holder manufacturer's specification to prevent pullout during cutting. Cutting parameters including speed and feed should be selected based on workpiece material, depth of cut, and machine rigidity — consult standard machining data references or the manufacturer's recommended starting parameters.
