The CLEVELAND C39014 is a single-end ball end mill designed for finishing operations in metalworking applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) and coated with titanium nitride (TiN), it delivers improved wear resistance and longer tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutting diameter measures 0.375 inches with a matching 0.375-inch shank diameter, a 0.75-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length. The two-flute, spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and clean surface finishes. This tool is part of the Cleveland HG-2B series and is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on light to medium finishing cuts.
The C39014 is suited for finishing passes on cast iron and steel workpieces in milling machine and machining center applications. Its ball nose geometry makes it appropriate for contoured surfaces, 3D profiling, and radius-bottom slot work where a flat end mill cannot reach. The regular-length body keeps it rigid during light finishing cuts, reducing deflection. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant must be applied externally when required by the workpiece material or cutting conditions.
Designed for use in milling machines and machining centers that accept a 0.375-inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Secure the shank fully into a collet or end mill holder, ensuring adequate engagement depth to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on TiN-coated tooling. Always confirm that the machine spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut.
