The CLEVELAND C38964 is a 2-flute, centercutting keyway end mill designed for finishing operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it provides increased surface hardness and wear resistance over uncoated HSS tooling. The cutting diameter is 0.375 inches with a 0.5625-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation during milling. The straight shank includes a Weldon flat for positive set-screw retention in standard end mill holders. This tool is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on manual and CNC milling equipment.
The C38964 is suited for keyway slotting, light profiling, and finishing passes on cast iron, steel, and non-ferrous metals. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, making it practical for applications where a pilot hole is not always available. The 0.375-inch shank diameter matches common collet and end mill holder sizes found in most shop environments. The HG-2K series designation indicates a general-purpose geometry appropriate for a wide range of finishing workloads in both job shop and production settings.
Designed for use in standard 0.375-inch end mill holders and collet chucks on manual or CNC vertical milling machines. Rated for primary use in cast iron and steel workpieces, with secondary suitability for non-ferrous metals per material codes K, P, and N.
Installation is performed by machinists using a calibrated torque wrench on the set-screw at the Weldon flat to secure the shank in the holder. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Follow the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety standards for maximum RPM and feed rate selection based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
