The CLEVELAND C33838 is a 2-flute, single-end square end mill designed for metal removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. Ground from high speed steel (HSS) stock and finished with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, it provides increased surface hardness and lubricity compared to uncoated HSS. The cutting diameter is 0.6875 inches (11/16 inches), the length of cut is 1.3125 inches (1-5/16 inches), and the overall length is 3.25 inches. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat measures 0.625 inches in diameter and seats securely in standard ER collets or end mill holders. This tool is part of the HG-2 series and is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The C33838 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, making it versatile for pocketing operations. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. The 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces on the workpiece. This is a regular-length end mill appropriate for general-purpose stock removal where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use on conventional and CNC vertical milling machines with standard end mill holders or ER collet chucks accepting a 0.625-inch shank. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention screw against the Weldon flat per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and confirm correct spindle direction (right-hand) before engaging the workpiece.
