The CLEVELAND C33837 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. It features a 11/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1-5/16 inch length of cut, and a 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank. Constructed from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and surface hardness compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the centercutting geometry allows plunge entry into the workpiece. Installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in job shop and production environments.
The C33837 is rated for primary use on cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and steel. Its regular-length classification and 3-5/8 inch overall length make it suitable for standard-depth peripheral milling, slotting, and profiling where extended reach is not required. The Weldon flat shank provides positive retention in set-screw style end mill holders, reducing pull-out risk under side-load conditions. This tool is part of the Cleveland HG-2-TC series, which is oriented toward general-purpose HSS milling with a TiCN upgrade for extended tool life.
Rated for use on cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and steel workpiece materials. Compatible with standard 1/2 inch bore end mill holders equipped with a Weldon flat set-screw drive. Part of the Cleveland HG-2-TC series for general-purpose HSS milling applications.
Installation is performed by machinists using a standard end mill holder with a set-screw positioned against the Weldon flat on the shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool to confirm proper holder engagement. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for maximum spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material and tool diameter.
