The CLEVELAND C33785 is a 2-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is ground from high speed steel (HSS) and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life by reducing friction and improving wear resistance. The cutter measures 13/16 inches in diameter with a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and a 4 inch overall length. A 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat provides secure tool holding in standard end mill holders. The 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
The C33785 is suited for milling operations in cast iron, non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and brass, and steel. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, making it practical for slotting, pocketing, profiling, and ramping cuts. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle rotation. At regular length classification with a 1-1/2 to 2.0 inch length of cut range, this end mill fits common production and maintenance machining applications without the overhang concerns of extended-reach tooling.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a 5/8 inch shank. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, as specified by the HG-2 series design parameters.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the tool holder to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow the tooling manufacturer and machine OEM guidelines for appropriate speeds and feeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
