The CLEVELAND C33778 is a 2-flute, high speed steel square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. The cutter measures 19/32 inches (0.5938 inches) in diameter with a 1-1/8 inch length of cut and a straight-cylindrical, Weldon Flat shank at 1/2 inch diameter. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in production environments. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Overall length is 3-3/8 inches. This end mill is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC mills, knee mills, and manual milling machines.
The C33778 is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both roughing and finishing passes at regular reach. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it practical for slot milling, pocket milling, and ramping operations. The HG-2 series designation indicates a general-purpose high speed steel geometry with right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation, appropriate for conventional and climb milling. Primary workpiece materials supported include cast iron (ISO K), non-ferrous metals (ISO N), and steel (ISO P).

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and the machine in a locked-out state before tool changes. Seat the Weldon Flat against the toolholder set screw and torque to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating cuts. Cutting parameters such as speed and feed should be selected based on workpiece material, machine rigidity, and depth of cut following the tool manufacturer guidelines.
