The CLEVELAND C33772 is a two-flute, square-end, single-end mill designed for material removal and slot milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) finish, it delivers improved surface hardness and lubricity compared to uncoated HSS. The 0.5-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank that also accepts a Weldon flat drive, giving machinists a secure grip in standard end mill holders. A 30-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. This mill is centercutting, making it suitable for plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot cuts.
The C33772 belongs to Cleveland Series HG-2, a regular-length line intended for general-purpose milling on manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and drill press setups where HSS tooling is preferred. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and brass, and low-to-medium carbon steels. The 13/16-inch length of cut and 2-11/16-inch overall length make it a practical choice for shallow-to-moderate depth slots, pockets, and profile passes in job shop and maintenance environments.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-flat side-lock holders. Suitable for cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpiece materials as specified by Cleveland Series HG-2 application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the set screw against the Weldon flat — consult your tool holder manufacturer for correct clamping torque. Inspect the TiN coating and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use; a damaged edge should be replaced rather than reground without proper HSS regrinding equipment.
