The CLEVELAND C33749 is a 2-flute, high speed steel square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in a wide range of metal-cutting environments. It features a 35/64 inch (0.5469 inch) cutting diameter, a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat for secure tool holding. Overall length is 3-3/8 inches. The spiral flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. It is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in job shop, maintenance, and production environments.
The C33749 is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The uncoated high speed steel construction makes it appropriate for lower-speed operations, general-purpose work, and applications where re-sharpening is preferred. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute orientation are standard for conventional vertical milling machine and CNC machining center setups. Series HG-2 denotes a regular-length geometry, placing this tool in a standard reach category appropriate for most typical milling depths within its length-of-cut range of 1.0 to 1.25 inches.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for conventional milling machines and CNC machining centers accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical or Weldon flat shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder and torque the set screw against the Weldon flat to manufacturer specifications for the holder in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, and select cutting parameters appropriate for HSS tooling in the workpiece material.
