The CLEVELAND C33748 is a 2-flute, high speed steel square end mill designed for material removal and profiling operations on milling machines and machining centers. It measures 17/32 inches (0.5313 inches) in diameter with a 1-1/8-inch length of cut and a 3-3/8-inch overall length. The 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank accepts Weldon flat retention. A 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and helps reduce cutting forces across a range of workpiece materials. This is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry as well as lateral passes. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follow standard milling convention. Series HG-2 designation places it in the regular-length class of the CLEVELAND end mill lineup.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in general-purpose shop environments. Typical applications include slotting, side milling, profiling, and pocketing operations where a regular-length tool provides adequate reach without excessive overhang. The uncoated high speed steel construction makes it appropriate for lower-speed setups and jobs that involve regrinding worn tools rather than replacing coated carbide.
Designed for use in any milling machine or machining center with a 1/2-inch tool-holding collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-flat side-lock holder. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before tool changes. Seat the shank fully into the holder and, when using a Weldon-flat holder, align the flat to the set screw before torquing. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety codes when setting spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material.
