The CLEVELAND C33709 is a double-end, two-flute square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, this tool delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS. The mill features a 7/16 inch cutting diameter, a 13/16 inch length of cut, and a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat for secure tool holding. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on manual or CNC milling machines.
The C33709 is suited for milling operations on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in job shop and production environments. Its double-end design extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends before the tool is retired. The regular-length configuration and 4-1/8 inch overall length make it a practical fit for standard milling setups where clearance is not a limiting factor. Centercutting geometry allows the tool to plunge directly into the workpiece, supporting slot milling and pocket operations without a pre-drilled entry point.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch collet or Weldon-flat end mill holders on manual or CNC vertical milling machines. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as specified by the manufacturer for the HD-2 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tool-holding guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Confirm the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw in the holder to prevent axial pullout during cutting. Follow applicable shop safety procedures when handling and storing cutting tools.
