The CLEVELAND C33470 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from High Speed Steel (HSS) with a Titanium Carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it delivers improved wear resistance and surface hardness over uncoated HSS tooling. The mill measures 0.875 inches in cutting diameter with a 5-inch length of cut and a 7.25-inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for extended reach setups. A 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. Installed by machinists and toolroom operators in CNC or manual milling applications where longer reach is required.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both production and job-shop environments. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on vertical mills and machining centers. The straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw style tool holders. The HG-4C series designation indicates a general-purpose 4-flute geometry optimized for steel and cast iron stock removal.
Designed for use in machining cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Compatible with standard end mill holders and Weldon-flat set-screw holders accepting a 7/8-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder and torque the set screw against the Weldon flat according to the holder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the cut, particularly given the extra-long reach of this tool.
