The CLEVELAND C33448 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved surface hardness and extended tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 1/2-inch mill diameter pairs with a 3-inch length of cut, placing this tool in the extra-long category and making it suited for deep-slot and deep-pocket work where standard-length end mills fall short. It runs a 30-degree helix angle with four spiral flutes and a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration. The straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accepts standard collet chucks and side-lock holders.
The C33448 is used in vertical and horizontal milling centers, knee mills, and CNC machining centers for cutting cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its extra-long reach makes it practical for stepped cavities, tall workpiece features, and applications where a standard 1-inch or 1.5-inch LOC tool cannot reach the full depth in a single pass. The center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry as well as conventional ramp and helical entry paths. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and CNC operators are the primary users in job shop, maintenance, and production environments.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Part of the Cleveland HG-4C series of high speed steel end mills.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators. Secure the shank fully in a collet chuck or side-lock holder, ensuring the Weldon flat is engaged when using a set-screw holder to prevent pull-out under load. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Extra-long end mills are more susceptible to deflection — minimize stick-out beyond what the operation requires and reduce feed rates accordingly when working near the full length of cut.
