The CLEVELAND C33446 is a square-end, single-end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) finish, it offers improved wear resistance over uncoated HSS tooling. The 7/16-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 2-3/4-inch length of cut, making it well suited for deep-slot and deep-shoulder work where standard-length end mills fall short. A 30-degree helix angle and four spiral flutes promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. The 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accepts standard side-lock toolholders. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. Overall length is 4-1/2 inches. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this tooling.
The C33446 is rated for cutting cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, covering the three workpiece material categories most commonly encountered in job shop and production machining environments. The extra-long length of cut — beginning at 2.0 inches and extending to 2-3/4 inches on this part — handles deep pocket milling, long-reach profiling, and cavity work where a standard end mill cannot reach the full depth of cut. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry is consistent with conventional CNC machining center spindle rotation, requiring no special programming offsets.
Rated for primary workpiece materials cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Fits standard 3/8-inch collets and side-lock Weldon-style toolholders used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Part of the Cleveland Series HG-4C extra-long end mill line.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-crib technicians. De-energize and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the toolholder to prevent axial pullout under heavy cuts. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation; excessive runout accelerates flute wear and reduces surface finish quality.
