The CLEVELAND C33438 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) finish, it delivers extended tool life in demanding shop environments. The 3/16-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-3/4-inch length of cut and a 3-9/16-inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for reach into deep pockets and slots. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Centercutting geometry allows direct plunging into material without a pre-drilled entry hole. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and users of this end mill.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both production and toolroom settings. The extra-long overall length makes it well matched to setups requiring extended reach, such as deep cavity work or workholding configurations that keep the spindle face far from the part surface. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and side-lock tool holders. It is part of the Cleveland HG-4C series.
The C33438 is designed for use in standard end mill holders and side-lock holders accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank with Weldon flat. Rated for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpiece materials (ISO material codes K, N, and P).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Secure the shank fully into the tool holder to the minimum engagement depth before tightening the set screw against the Weldon flat. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material being cut before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear at regular intervals, and remove the tool from service if edge condition degrades to avoid workpiece damage or tool breakage.
