The CLEVELAND C33416 is a 4-flute, square-end, single-end mill ground from high speed steel (HSS) and finished with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating. Designed for general-purpose milling operations, it features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a straight-cylindrical or Weldon flat 0.5 inch shank. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, while the centercutting design allows the tool to plunge directly into the workpiece material. It is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC machine operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel across a range of operations including slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The HG-4C series designation places it in a general-purpose category intended for conventional milling machines and CNC machining centers running at moderate to high spindle speeds. The regular length classification and 2 inch length of cut make it well matched to standard-reach applications where rigidity is a priority and extended-reach tooling is unnecessary.
Designed as a standard 0.5 inch shank end mill suitable for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines equipped with ER collets, set-screw holders, or Weldon-flat-style end mill holders sized for a 0.5 inch shank.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is secured before mounting or removing the tool. Verify that the holder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the tool to the correct gauge length. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer recommendations for speed and feed selection based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
