The CLEVELAND C33290 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill manufactured from high speed steel with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish. The TiCN coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in demanding cutting applications. It features a 1-inch mill diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat, and a 4.5-inch overall length. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting. This tool is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into a workpiece. It is designed for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on manual or CNC milling machines.
The C33290 belongs to the CLEVELAND HG-4C series and is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. It handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in both job shop and production environments. The regular length geometry makes it appropriate for standard-depth pocketing and contouring where rigidity and surface finish are priorities. It is not an extended-reach configuration, which helps maintain tool stiffness during heavier cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
The CLEVELAND C33290 is rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and steel. It fits standard 1-inch-bore end mill holders and Weldon-style set-screw holders used on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the holder and tighten the Weldon flat set screw to the holder manufacturer's specified torque. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
