The CLEVELAND C33283 is a square end mill designed for precision material removal in machining operations. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, this end mill delivers hardness and wear resistance for extended tool life across a range of workpiece materials. The 7/8 inch diameter cutter features four right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle, producing efficient chip evacuation and a consistent finish. Centercutting geometry allows both plunge and peripheral cutting in a single tool. This tool is part of the CLEVELAND HG-4C series and is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals on manual or CNC milling equipment.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in production or job-shop environments. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat provides secure, positive tool holding in standard end mill holders and set-screw chucks. With a 1-7/8 inch length of cut and 4-1/8 inch overall length, it is configured as a regular-length tool, appropriate for general-purpose face milling, slotting, profiling, and step milling where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use with cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpiece materials. Fits standard end mill holders and Weldon-style set-screw chucks accepting a 7/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per standard lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Secure the Weldon flat against the set screw in the tool holder to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation and before cutting. Feed rate, spindle speed, and depth of cut should be set according to the workpiece material and machine rigidity — consult the manufacturer cutting data recommendations for HSS tooling.
