The CLEVELAND C33277 is a square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metal applications. Built from high speed steel with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, this tool delivers improved wear resistance and surface hardness compared to uncoated HSS tooling. It runs a 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle, making it well suited for finishing cuts and moderate material removal rates. The straight cylindrical shank with a Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw style toolholders. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators are the primary installers and users of this cutting tool.
This end mill is used in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills for cutting cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. The regular-length classification and 1.625-inch length of cut make it appropriate for general-purpose pocketing, profiling, and slotting operations where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and Weldon-flat toolholders accepting a 0.750-inch shank diameter. Suitable for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpieces as noted in the manufacturer specifications for the HG-4C series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum engagement depth recommended for the holder style before tightening set screws against the Weldon flat. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut to prevent premature tool wear or breakage.
