The CLEVELAND C33274 is a 4-flute square end mill ground from high speed steel (HSS) and finished with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating. It carries a 23/32-inch (0.7188 inch) cutting diameter and a 1-5/8-inch length of cut, making it well suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat measures 3/4 inch in diameter and seats securely in standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Overall length is 3-7/8 inches. The HG-4C series designation indicates a general-purpose 4-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle and center-cutting capability. Machinists and tool-room operators use this tool in vertical and horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
This end mill is designed for cutting cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, covering a broad range of shop and production applications. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry, which adds flexibility when ramping or drilling starter cuts is not practical. The regular-length classification (LOC range 1.5 to 2.0 inches) suits general-depth passes without excessive overhang. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flutes are standard for conventional spindle rotation. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS, extending tool life in moderate-speed cutting environments.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a 3/4-inch straight shank with Weldon flat. Recommended workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as specified by the HG-4C series application data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing the end mill. Seat the Weldon flat squarely against the set screw in the holder and torque the set screw per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, and confirm that cutting speeds and feeds are appropriate for the workpiece material and HSS substrate.
