The CLEVELAND C33271 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) finish, it offers increased surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 21/32-inch cutting diameter and 1-5/8-inch length of cut make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry follows standard convention for most vertical and horizontal milling setups. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The C33271 belongs to the Cleveland HG-4C series and is intended for general-purpose milling of cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. It is a centercutting design, allowing plunge cuts in addition to peripheral and slot milling. The straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard side-lock end mill holders with a 5/8-inch bore, common across most manual and CNC milling machines in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in 5/8-inch bore end mill holders (side-lock or Weldon flat style). Primary workpiece materials are cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel, per Cleveland HG-4C series design intent.
Install in a 5/8-inch side-lock end mill holder and torque the set screw to the holder manufacturer's specification, aligning the flat on the shank with the set screw. Confirm spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish. Power down the machine and lock the spindle before changing tooling. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when operating milling equipment.
