The CLEVELAND C33256 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it delivers improved surface hardness and lubricity compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 3/8 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 2-1/2 inch overall length, making it well suited for standard-depth slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users of this end mill in production and job shop environments.
The C33256 is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into a workpiece without pre-drilling. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw-style collet chucks, which are common in both manual milling machines and CNC machining centers. The regular-length body keeps overhang short, supporting rigidity in tight-tolerance work.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard addition for 3/8 inch end mill holders and ER collet chucks used in manual knee mills and CNC machining centers. Compatible with workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's setup procedures. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw against the Weldon flat per the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and replace the end mill when surface finish or dimensional accuracy degrades.
