The CLEVELAND C33247 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutter measures 0.2344 inches (15/64 inch) in diameter with a 5/8-inch length of cut and a 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. A 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. The centercutting design allows for plunge operations in addition to peripheral and slot milling. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in manual mills and CNC machining centers.
The C33247 belongs to the Cleveland HG-4C series, a line of general-purpose HSS end mills suited for a wide range of milling applications. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling setups. With a regular-length overall dimension of 2-7/16 inches, this tool fits standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon flat-style holders. It is well suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and light-to-medium plunge operations in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use with standard 3/8-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon flat-style tool holders on manual knee mills and CNC vertical machining centers. Compatible with cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel workpiece materials per HG-4C series application guidelines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the end mill. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the set screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping before beginning a cut.
