The CLEVELAND C33174 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals and cast iron. Built from high speed steel with a 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry, this tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. The 7/8-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 3/4-inch straight cylindrical or Weldon flat shank for secure tool holding. At 4-1/8 inches overall length with a 1-7/8-inch length of cut, this is a regular-length tool well suited to standard depth profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece without pre-drilling.
The C33174 is intended for use in machining environments where cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel are the primary workpiece materials. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration, which is the standard orientation for the majority of vertical machining centers and manual mills. The uncoated high speed steel construction makes it serviceable across general-purpose shop applications where a carbide or coated tool is not required. This tool is sold individually and is appropriate for tool rooms, production shops, and maintenance machining operations.
Designed for use with standard 3/4-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, or Weldon-style set-screw holders on vertical and horizontal milling machines. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel as designated by material codes K, N, and P.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting, ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention fastener according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before the first cut, and confirm feed and speed parameters match the workpiece material and machine capability.
