The CLEVELAND C33171 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for precision material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS), it features a 13/16-inch (0.8125 inch) cutting diameter, a 1-7/8-inch (1.875 inch) length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length. The right-hand spiral flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry, giving machinists flexibility for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. This tool is uncoated and intended for use in conventional milling setups where HSS tooling is appropriate for the workpiece material and cutting conditions.
The C33171 is suited for machining cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in production and job-shop environments. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw chucks. With a regular-length classification and a 5/8-inch shank diameter, it fits common milling machine spindles used in vertical and horizontal knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual bridgeport-style machines. The HG-4C series designation identifies it within the CLEVELAND general-purpose HSS end mill lineup.
Designed for machining cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Compatible with 5/8-inch bore end mill holders and Weldon-flat set-screw chucks. Part of the CLEVELAND HG-4C series of regular-length HSS square end mills.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with milling machine operation and tool-holding procedures. Power down and de-energize the spindle completely before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Ensure the set screw seats firmly against the Weldon flat before engaging the cut to prevent tool pull-out. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier guidelines for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the workpiece material.
