The CLEVELAND C33047 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill ground from high speed steel (HSS) and designed for general-purpose milling in job shops and production environments. It measures 0.5313 inches (17/32 inch) in diameter with a 1.375-inch length of cut and a 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank that includes a Weldon flat for positive drive retention. Overall length is 5 inches. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces across a wide range of workpiece materials. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, adding flexibility to slotting and profiling operations.
The C33047 is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both manual and CNC machining setups. The HD-4C series regular-length profile fits standard toolholders and R8 collets common to knee mills, bridgeports, and vertical machining centers. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry match conventional spindle rotation. The uncoated HSS construction accepts standard reconditioning, making it a practical choice for shops that resharpen tooling in-house. Both ends are usable, extending service life before regrind is required.
Designed for use with 5/8-inch collets, end mill holders, or Weldon-style set-screw toolholders. Rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel per HD-4C series application guidelines.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable OSHA and shop safety procedures. Seat the Weldon flat securely against the set screw in the toolholder to prevent axial pullout under load. Verify runout at the tool tip before beginning a cut; excessive runout accelerates edge wear and can cause chatter. A licensed machinist or qualified CNC operator should validate speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut before production use.
