The CLEVELAND C32976 is a cobalt square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it features a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) finish that extends tool life by reducing friction and resisting wear at elevated cutting temperatures. The double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, maximizing value per tool. With a 0.1563-inch (5/32 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.4375-inch (7/16 inch) length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, this end mill is engineered for spiral-flute cutting in stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and steel. It is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
The C32976 belongs to the Cleveland HDC-4C series, a line optimized for milling primary workpiece materials coded M (stainless steel), P (steel), and S (high-temperature alloys). Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without pre-drilling. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw style tool holders with a 3/8-inch bore. The regular-length profile fits most vertical machining centers and manual knee mills where clearance is not a constraint.
Designed for use in 3/8-inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, or Weldon-flat set-screw holders. Optimized for milling stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and steel as part of the Cleveland HDC-4C series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Verify that the holder bore matches the 3/8-inch shank diameter and that the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw to prevent axial pullout under load. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and tool diameter.
